SKIN CONDITIONS

The list of various skin conditions that could affect you, or anyone else, is extensive, ranging from simply aging factors, to skin afflictions and abnormalities. Here we plan to look at just three common skin conditions which would affect a large percentage of the world's population, and how these may be treated.

Birthmarks and Abnormal Skin Pigmentation

In the same way as the person that it covers, your skin is not always flawless or perfect. In a perfect world, melanin production and skin blood vessels would all be exactly controlled. That seldom happens. There are birthmarks and other pigmentation disorders that affect many people.

Birthmarks, or pigmented birthmarks often appear a few weeks after birth, and while not dangerous, may last a lifetime. Similarly, macular stains, hemangiomas and port wine stains can develop later in life and will not be reversed by the body's natural processes. These somewhat embarrasing and disfigturing skin conditions can be treated, and seeking advice from a professional establishment like The Melrose Aesthetic Centre , should be your first goal.

Other condtions such as Melasma, characterized by tan or brown patches on the cheeks, nose, foreheard, and chin, or Vitiligo, a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes (the cells that make pigment) are destroyed. As a result, white patches of skin appear on different parts of the body.

Wrinkles

Now this may not be classified as strictly a skin condition needing medical attention, but it certainly troubles many to the extent that the wrinkles, naturally produced by the body's aging process, will lead them to seek some anti-aging therapies to help restore the skin's more youthful look. Over time, the dermis loses both collagen and elastin, so skin gets thinner and has trouble getting enough moisture to the epidermis. The fat in the subcutaneous layer that gives skin a plump appearance also begins to disappear, the epidermis starts to sag, and wrinkles form.

The Melrose Aesthetic Centre offers a range of effective treatments for wrinkle reduction, among them the well known Botox®, Soft Tissue Fillers , Chemical Peels , or Laser Skin resurfacing and rejuvenation.

All of these therapies can make dramatic improvements to the appearance of wrinkles, and offer a younger, fresher look.

Acne

Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, or common acne , is not just a problem for teenagers; it can affect people from ages 10 up to 40. It is not unusual for women, in particular, to develop acne in their mid- to late-20s, even if they have not had breakouts in years, or possibly ever. On the positive side, those few individuals who have acne into their 40s may well grow out of it, but if they do not, effective treatments are available beyond the usual over-the-counter creams and lotions. . Acne can often also lead to severe and unsightly scarring, which will also need treatment to improve its appearance.

If any of these skin conditions troubles you, contact The Melrose Aesthetic Centre to arrange an appointment, and discuss and be evaluated by one of their trained skincare Professionals, who can show you the way to dealing with, and improving the issues that trouble your skin.
