HOW DOES LASER RESURFACING WORK?

Laser resurfacing is a relatively new treatment for reducing facial wrinkles, which unfortunately, of course, cannot be completely removed, but can be dramatically improved. It is also a remarkably effective treatment for skin irregularities, such as blemishes or acne scars, as well as general aging and sun damaged skin.
The technique directs short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at skin blemishes and wrinkles. Laser skin
resurfacing removes skin very precisely, layer by layer, resulting in fewer problems with potential  lightening of the skin. This popular procedure is known by several other names, including lasabrasion, laser
peel or laser vaporization. The two types of lasers most commonly used in laser resurfacing are carbon dioxide (CO2) and erbium. Each laser vapourizes superficial, damaged skin cells and both reduce the risk for the patient because they limit the amount of heat absorbed by the skin.

At The Melrose Aesthetic Centre, several types of lasers are used to treat a variety of skin issues, including the use of laser resurfacing for anti-aging, acne, and acne scarring.  In addition, even stretch marks can be treated with the laser. It is non invasive and literally painless, and can be accomplished in a shorter space of time than most treatments.

This laser resurfacing treatment allows a new layer of skin to grow. In addition, laser resurfacing is commonly
used for facial cosmetic improvement, such as reducing the lines around the mouth, cheeks and eyes. People who desire a better skin tone complexion also rely on laser resurfacing.
This treatment can benefit those with minor wrinkles; however, it may not remove the deep wrinkles. Also,
as we continue to age, lines around the eyes, mouth and cheeks will reappear so the effects of laser
resurfacing is not permanent.  The latest types of these lasers are designed to reduce the recovery time and produce less scarring and changes in skin pigment. You should consult the Aesthetic Specialist to determine the best laser resurfacing therapy for you. He will explain the realistic expectations along with the risks and benefits involved with laser resurfacing.

Wrinkles come with age, there is no getting around it.
Skin irregularities, such as acne or acne scarring are less common, but nontheless, any of these will likley cause concern at some stage, and seeking professional advice on how laser resurfacing works, and what it can do for you would seem sensible. Those who have had the procedure have claimed to look and feel years younger.

Contact The Melrose Aesthetic Centre to arrange an appointment, and discuss your options with them, to find out how you can regain the skin you once had.
